Convocation Venues in Solan

Solan currently lists 4 venues on Spalba suited to formal academic graduation ceremonies. The stock is dominated by banquet halls and resort properties — a mix that reflects Solan's hillside hospitality landscape — with capacities ranging from 40 to 250 guests. Most of these spaces sit comfortably in the 80–150 seat range, making them well-suited to departmental convocations and mid-sized graduating cohorts rather than large university-wide gatherings.

The Venues Available

The four properties span a variety of settings. Montclair Ananta Elite, Solan and Hotel Alasia offer dedicated banquet hall spaces — Alasia specifically listing the Alasia Banquet Hall, The Restaurant at Alasia, and a Hi Tea Lounge, giving organisers some flexibility in how pre- or post-ceremony receptions are arranged. Suryavilas Luxury Resort and Spa brings a resort setting to the category, with its Mudra Lawn and Barbeque area adding outdoor ceremony options. Hotel Himani's Resorts rounds out the list as an additional resort-style property. Spalba's 3D virtual tours let academic coordinators assess hall layouts and stage configurations before committing to a site visit.

Capacity Guidance for Solan

All eight venue spaces listed in Solan fall in the intimate-under-200 range; none exceed 250 guests at maximum capacity. For a convocation hosting 80–150 attendees — graduates, faculty, and families combined — most of these properties can accommodate the full gathering in a single hall. For smaller departmental ceremonies of 40–60 people, several spaces offer enough room to maintain formal staging without the hall feeling sparse. Institutions expecting attendances above 250 will need to consider alternative arrangements, as no large-format spaces currently appear in this category for Solan.

Where Venues Are Located

Solan's convocation-capable properties are distributed across a few accessible clusters. Venues are found along The Mall Road and The Mall — the town's central corridor — as well as in the Gandhigram area. This concentration keeps travel straightforward for students and families arriving from within Solan town, while the resort properties offer a more secluded hillside experience for institutions that prefer a campus-adjacent feel.
