Resorts in Chilika

Chilika — home to Asia's largest brackish water lagoon — currently lists one full-service resort venue on Spalba, and it is a well-appointed one. Swosti Chilika Resort, located in Odia Alapur, offers a range of dedicated event spaces spanning intimate indoor halls to expansive open-air lawns, accommodating gatherings from 25 to 500 guests. For planners seeking a self-contained leisure retreat against a rare natural backdrop, this property represents the category's offering here.

The Venue and Its Spaces

Swosti Chilika Resort brings together six distinct event spaces under one roof: Ektara Lawn, Tanger Lawn, Maple 1, Mahogany, Chestnut, and Shehnai Lawn. This variety is notable for a single property — it means a planner can run a multi-phase event entirely on-site, moving from a compact indoor session in Mahogany or Chestnut to a large open-air celebration on Shehnai Lawn or Tanger Lawn without leaving the resort. The mix of named lawns and banquet halls is well-suited to events that require both formal and informal settings across a single day.

Matching Your Guest Count to the Right Space

With capacity ranging from 25 at the lower end to 500 at the upper, Swosti Chilika Resort caters to a broad spectrum of group sizes. The typical usable range across its spaces falls between 70 and 260 guests, which covers the majority of corporate off-sites, family functions, and mid-scale social gatherings. Three of its spaces are configured for more intimate groups — under 200 guests — making them appropriate for curated events where atmosphere and closeness matter as much as scale. None of the spaces push beyond 600, so this resort is best matched to mid-size events rather than very large assemblies.

Where the Resort Is Located

The resort sits in Odia Alapur, a locality that places it close to the shores of Chilika Lake. This setting gives the property its defining character as a leisure retreat: guests travel to the destination and remain within its premises for the duration of the event, which is the hallmark of a true resort-style venue experience.
